'Chemistry' is made up of:
Graham Gall - guitars and vocals

Graham with his beloved Telecaster
Graham has been singing all his life and has played guitar for over 40 years. After stints solo and on the Folk circuit his first serious band was 'The Courtiers" based in Wollongong on the NSW South Coast. Subsequent to that Graham progressed from rhythm guitar with 'Cloud Nine' in Wollongong to lead guitar with 50/50 dance band 'Criss Cross' in Dubbo in Central West NSW. With this popular band Graham played all over the West for 5 years and backed many artists including Jimmy Little.
When he moved back to Wollongong in the early 80s he joined the rock band 'Tymin' and once again played the South Coast Club circuit. Following a move to Nowra Graham went solo and worked solidly at this until yearning for the band vibe, which led him to form a trio called 'Choice'.
On then moving to Canberra he once again worked solo until joining country rock outfit 'Ryder', later to become 'System'. After a year or so Graham first encountered the Van Den Heuvel brothers when he joined 'Take Three' for the first time; he has worked with them on and off since then.
In the meantime there was a stint with his children in 'Family Affair' and 'Roll Play'. Some time after that he joined three ACT girls to form 'Jam Jar' with his son and daughter which led eventually to Tamworth performances in 1999 and a TIARA award for reaching the Top 5 Best Independent Country Bands in 2000 with his self-penned track 'Men In Suits'.
After a short rest Graham formed contemporary dance band 'The Justice' with his son and daughter in law to be and together with Kelly Cooper and a keyboard player this outfit had a very successful run for over a year working all over the ACT and NSW country areas.
'Take Three' eventually became 'Solid Gold' and Graham was invited to rejoin them as lead guitarist when 'The Justice' folded in 2002. He played lead guitar with Solid Gold including staging many Elvis Presley Tribute Shows on and off until November 2006.
In between time Graham was also independent country artist Kelly Cooper’s solo backing guitarist.

Donovan Gall - drums and vocals

Donovan in full flight
The voice and rhythm coming from the back of Chemistry is a lad who was the makings of a muso since he was little more than a foetus. Donovan’s father Graham was playing in bands and practising in the lounge room whilst he would sleep in the cot, and waited for his turn to grow up big and strong enough to be able to hold two drumsticks and put the timber to the pigskin!
After his first lessons at Hyams Beach on the NSW South Coast by a Scottish Pipe Drum Leader and a very short stint with the Nowra Town Band, the family moved to Canberra in 1986. It was here that Donovan’s drumming career really started with a scholarship at the Canberra School of Music. Although he had lessons and was a keen member of the Canberra Youth Orchestra Society, he was predominantly trained in classical percussion and kept one eye on the drumkit all the time as this was his real dream – and the kit was much cooler than the triangle or glockenspiel!
Except for a few pointer lessons and early guidance from his father Donovan is mostly self taught on the drumkit, starting out by mimicking drum tracks from 80’s bands Go West, Hoodoo Gurus and Dragon and filling in for his Dads’ covers bands from age 13 – although having some trouble convincing management to let him in the clubs.
Looking back now Donovan has played most genres of music from rock’n’roll to reggae, grunge to funk, disco to drum’n’bass and enjoys the challenge to attempt just about anything. Add to this his new found love for singing and live sound mixing whilst doing all of this, and you have one quarter of Chemistry.
Donovan’s Band memberships have included:
Danceforce Solid Gold Head Vendor Machine Phonetics Rollplay Nightlife Jam Jar The Justice
Porch People Puckerlips Cow Widdashin

Debbie Gall - vocals and percussion

Debbie in a cool mood.
Debbie is the very ‘young at heart’ female vocalist out front of ‘Chemistry’ and she wears her heart on her sleeve. From sultry ballads to full on dance tracks Debbie delivers in spades. Audiences love her Aretha and Tina covers to which she gives her all; you will even hear the odd Pink track as well. She also doubles on percussion.
Debbie originally hails from the UK and arrived in Australia in 1992. She cut her vocal teeth in the Brindabella Ladies barbershop chorus in Canberra and this experience taught her the power of the harmony lines that are used to great effect in Chemistry.
Since then Debbie has sung in several very successful Canberra outfits including: the ‘Barrocka Bye Babies’ ‘The Justice’ ‘Danceforce’; and ‘Axis’.
Debbie is also a valued backing vocalist and has been in high demand for Elvis tribute shows in the region over the years.
Debbie and Donovan are reprising their very well known vocal collaboration that was so successful in ‘Danceforce’ and together with Graham, three fifths of the powerful combo that was ‘The Justice’.

Peter Bucke - bass guitar and vocals

Pete rocks on!
Peter loves to play bass and has done so since his introduction to the instrument in his high school days. He spent many 'wasted youth' hours jamming in the family rumpus room with his brother, writing songs and dabbling in vocal harmonies. Peter enjoys and plays many styles of music including Rock, Blues, Folk, Bush, Scottish traditional, Continental and Country.
Peter has had the pleasure of performing with Joy McKean, John Williamson, Becky Cole, and Diane Cochran; and more recently with Sean Hale and Alice Plumb with the Windsor Daniels Band. He enjoys entertaining although he claims he suffers a bit of stage fright. A good drummer brings out the best in his presentation and playing abilities and he will even sing a song or two. Peter says that the main ingredient for a good band is all about musical mateship and having a good time. Major highlights in his playing career have been meeting Slim Dusty back stage and performing for 10 years with the late entertainer extraordinaire, Peter Apps from the Brittlejack Band.

John Wyett - keyboards

John Wyett holds the keys!
John grew up in country Victoria and was interested in music from an early age.
As a teenager John played in various church musical groups and as an extra instrument with local dance bands for a few years, gaining experience on piano, organ and guitar. By 18 yrs John was playing piano/keyboards 3-4 times a week in Melbourne at a prominent reception house both as a solo performer and as part of the four piece house band. He was also gigging with other bands at the 70's super pubs and Town Hall dances.
John left Melbourne for Sydney in 1978 to further his career, having played at the same reception house with the same drummer, bass player (electric double bass!) and sax player for over 10 years!
Between 1980 and 1989 John played only once or twice a week in Sydney as he began to spend valuable time with a young family. The first few years were in a country rock band that was a Hell's Angels favourite! Then John formed his own 5-6 piece covers group "Lunar Sea" that specialised in residencies at the large RSLs and Country Clubs.
John moved to Canberra in 1989 for a ‘real’ job and was occupied by that for about ten years. In 2000 he formed the 5 piece cover band 'Kyoto Banned' with colleagues from the Australian Greenhouse Office and they played mainly at work based functions but did some successful external gigs. This band folded with the demise of the AGO in 2008.
After a period of inactivity and retiring from the Public Service John is excited to be the newest member of Chemistry.
